Schweder, NormanNorman Franklin Schweder, age 90 of Markesan, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Berlin Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.Norman was born on January 19, 1926, in Markesan, a son of Frank and Eva (Malitski) Schweder. He was a graduate of Markesan High School. On August 26, 1950 he was united in marriage to Lucille Michalowski in Brandon, WI. Norman has lived his entire life in Markesan, with the exception of a three-year absence in which he served in the United States Army during
World War II, a member of 82nd Airborne Division. He was deployed to the European Theater to service in France and Germany. Norman was on the Markesan Fire Department and a police officer for the Markesan Police Department until he retired in 1990 of which he served as police chief for many years. He was an avid sportsman and always there for his children and grandchildren.Norman is survived and greatly missed by his wife, Lucille of Markesan; 5 children, Donald (Karen) Schweder of Reedsburg, Richard Schweder of Markesan, Cheryl Ann (Gary) Berghammer of Manchester, Janet (David) Haak of Fond du lac and Patrice (Eric) Bartz of Manchester; 10 grandchildren, Michelle (Dennis) Gardner, Brian (Leah) Schweder, Kyle (Alicia) Schweder, Landon Schweder, Mackenzie (Alex) Hohenstern, Courtney Schweder fiancé Jake Jensen, Jeremy (Tabitha) Berghammer, Megan (Chris) Schueller, Matthew Bartz and Allison Bartz; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Delores Schweder, Catherine Kehrmeyer, Betty Bauer, Dorothy Michalowski and Mabel Schweder; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Schweder; his parents, Frank and Eva; brothers, Palmer Schweder, Orrin Schweder, Merrill Schweder, Glenn Schweder, Keith Schweder, Henry Schultz, Howard Schultz; sisters, Ruth Keene, Dorothy Fogtman, Elaine Wilde, Olive Embs, Irene Schoephoester, Violet Barlow and Esther Weiland; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.Visitation for Norman will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 P.M at Markesan Community Funeral Home, 868 North Margaret Street, Markesan and on Monday, January 16, 2017, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at St Joseph Church, 45 Saint Joseph Street, Markesan.A funeral mass for Norman will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 16, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 45 Saint Joseph Street, Markesan with Rev. Paul Eruva officiating.A memorial fund has been established in Norman's name.
