LAKE CITY, Minn. — Norma H. Spooner, age 85, of Lake City died Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at the Lake City Care Center. She was born on November 17, 1928, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Oliver and Mary Louise (Stodden) Walsh. She attended school in Clinton and graduated from the Clinton High School. She married Rex William Spooner on April 6, 1946, in Clinton. She was a homemaker and also worked for Catholic Charities. She was a teachers' aide at the Clinton High School. Rex passed away in 1984. She moved to Lake City in 2001. She loved to read, was active in the Democratic Party and also St. Irenaeus Catholic Church in Clinton, Iowa. She is survived by her four daughters, Constance "Connie" (Doug) Davis of Ligonier, Indiana, Beth Spooner of Ligonier, Indiana, Nancy (Don) Spooner-Mueller of Lake City, Minnesota, and Janice Spooner of Lake City, Minnesota; two sons, Stephen (Susan) Spooner of Prescott, Arizona, and William Spooner of Minneapolis, Minn., 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her twin brother, Dr. Norman (Maryanne) Walsh of Ocean Pines, Maryland; and two sisters, Katherine (Jon) Hayes of San Leandro, California, and Patricia (Jay) Jensen of La Crescent, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Mary Hyde; and one brother, William Walsh. Funeral services will be held today Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home-Anderson-Peterson Chapel, Lake City. The Rev. Duane Holst will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Lake City, Minnesota. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to services. Online condolences may be offered at mahnfamilyfuneralhomes.com
