The sun rose for Norma Jene Gaines on February 24, 1939 and it set for her on November 21, 2019. She was the only child born to her surviving mother, Nellie Zerena Patterson of Karnack, Texas. Norma was raised in Karnack, Texas where she graduated from Carver Highschool in 1957. Upon obtaining her high school diploma, she then decided to pursue her passion and relocate to California, where she resideded for the majority of her life as a licensed cosmetologist.
Accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, she never passed up an opportunity to bear witness to her faith. Norma, was a diligent server of the Lord, being a member of the church choir as an alto for many years. Norma believed reading was fundamental and actively volunteered as a reading tutor throughout her life. She valued education from a young age and exemplified that through her many teachings. Whether it be playing scrabble, or solving a crossword puzzle, her love for words was undeniable.
The legacy she leaves behind are her five beautiful daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren among a host of many cousins and friends.

GRANDCHILDREN: Tricia A. Roach, Katrina M. Mitchell, Richard Morgan, Samuel Davis, Devon T. Tanksley, Aaron Davis, Nolan Lewis, Brian Davis, Christensen J. Sanders, MyShaundriss K. Watkins, and Antonio Lopez.
Great-Grandchildren: Travis Rabon II, Khalil Johnson, Gabrielle Johnson, Malik Mitchell, Quincey Tanksley, Romeo Lopez, Indie Lopez, Adan Tanksley, Taliyah Davis, Kaylyn Davis, Armani Davis, Matthew Davis, Daniel Davis

Norma is preceded in death by her grandparents, Pat and Mary Patterson, her husband Gordon Gaines and her great grandson Travondre Tyree Rabon.
To have known Norma was to love her.
