Norma Galli BrooksAug. 18, 2017Oct. 11, 2017Norma Galli Brooks passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the age of 79. She was born on August 18, 1938 in Reno, Nevada to Albert and Catherine (Rissone) Galli. She graduated from Reno High School and went on to beauty school where she obtained her cosmetology license. She set up her Beauty Shop in her home in Verdi, Nevada where the ladies of the town enjoyed hours of chatting and pampering and her nieces and nephews enjoyed hours of spinning each other around in the beauty chair. Having no children of her own she thankfully had a great sense of humor and was patient, loving, and totally devoted to her nieces and nephews.She eventually closed her shop and went to work at the Washoe County Treasurer's office where she retired after 20 plus years. After working hard for most of her life she was thrilled to be able to sleep in and not have to talk to anyone until after 10 o'clock in the morning!She will be greatly missed by her brother Rudy (Yvonne) Galli; her sister-in-law June Galli; her nieces Dieon Galli, Tina Galli, Belinda (Dave) Mencarelli and Janet (Tony)
Smith; her nephews Tony (Janet) Galli, Gino Galli, Joe (Barbara) Galli, and Albert (Linda) Galli; 17 great nieces and nephews; 20 great-great nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors.She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Catherine Galli, brothers Joe Galli and Roy Galli and her husband Verne Brooks, who passed just 2 days before her on October 9, 2017.A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11a.m. at Walton's Sierra Chapel: 875 West Second St. Reno, NV 89503. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Norma's life at the Verdi Historical Society at: 740 W. 2nd Street, Verdi, NV immediately following the service.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Verdi Historical Society: P.O.
