  • A life well lived

Natalie Joan Hughes, age 60, peacefully rested her eyes for the last time on February 5, 2025. She was born to Fred and Patricia (Schobelock) Elliott on November 18, 1964.

She leaves behind her husband, Clarence "Dean" Hughes of 43 years; children, Benjamin (Jessyca Simmons) Hughes and Erin (Terrence) Bagley; grandchildren, Tre'Jon, Reagan, Rachel, Freddie, Julius, and Evelyn; her mother; siblings, Greg (Paula) Elliott, Leslee (Kathy Wiedeman) Elliott-Sowers; God-daughters, Christin (Seth) Clever, Makayla Zeisler; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Natalie was preceded in death by her father; paternal grandparents, Joe and Audrey (Carver) Elliott; maternal grandparents, James and Cora (Diehl) Schobelock; and many more loved family and friends.

Natalie fought a hard battle both before and after a recent liver transplant. Even in the midst of her challenging journey, she was a bright light who created friendships with each person she encountered. Proverbs 31:25-She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.

She continued to joyfully tell people about Jesus. She loved to talk and share stories with anyone who would listen. Proverbs 31:26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

Her legacy as a mother goes beyond that of her immediate household. During her time on earth, she cared for hundreds of babies and children, leaving an impact on them and their families. Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise and call her blessed.

Now as she moves on, we smile at the thought of her dancing and singing in her new heavenly body. We celebrate all that she was and all that we will carry on with us. Proverbs 31:30b-31 ...but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to celebrate Natalie's life at First United Methodist Church (585 E. Main St., Chillicothe, Ohio 45601) on Saturday, February 15th at 2:30pm.

Additionally, Columbus area family and friends are invited to a celebration of life at Grace Fellowship in Pickerington (1449 Refugee Rd., Pickerington, Ohio 43147) on Monday, February 17th.
