Naomi Joyce Chapman, 76 of Pierre,SD was born March 6 1948 in Ft. Yates Nd. Passed away peacefully January 30,2025

Naomi attended Pierre Indian Learning Center, Wahpteton Indian school. Graduated from Flandreau Indian School.

Naomi worked for the Crow Creek Tribal School as a secretary, custodian, bus driver, cook and dorm matron.Served as a cook at the Highmore High School. Was a cook for the Ft. Pierre meals on wheels program. Naomi was a mother,grandma,aunt.she will be remembered as a strong, independant hard worker. had a great sense of humor. She was known in the community of Big Bend. Enjoyed cooking, sewing, thrifting. she likes to do crossword puzzles and playing games on her ipad.She enjoyed watching basketball and watching her kids and grandkids play softball. she took on many task and was very organized. Gave lots of good advice on life. was always there for her children and grandchildren. gave tough love when you needed it. She was proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. enjoying visits from her family especiially the babies.

Proceeded in death by her parents Guy Chapman and Mabel Carrier. Brothers James and Alvin Chapman. Sisters Glenda Chapman, Rena Carry Mocassin and Eloise Ducheneaux.Signifcant other Arnold Howe Sr. Children Kevin Chapman, Robert Red Water and Theresa Big Eagle.

Naomi is survived by her children Dale Red Water, Lonnie Big Eagle of Sioux Falls SD Alvin Chapman Lil Brad Big Eagle of Harrold SDdaughters Joanne St. John Mary Jo Red Water, Jennifer Big Eagle. Lila Red Tomahawk-Kirkie all of Pierre SD. Cheyenne Red Water of Lower Brule SD. Nieces Lois Chapman of Aberdeen SD Amelia CHapman of Flandreau SD. Cousin Irene Poor Thunder of McLaughlin SD Numerous Grandchildren and great grand children.
