Nancy Downing MoraviaNancy J. Downing, age 75, of Moravia, passed away on June 28, 2017 at Oakwood Specialty Care in Albia. As per her wishes she was cremated and laid to rest at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Walnut Woods State Park Lodge in West Des Moines on July 28, 2017 from 5:00 - 8:30 p.m. This will be a pot luck event for family and friends to come and share stories and fellowship. Nancy was born on December 3, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa. She worked for the Iowa DNR for thirty-five years, retiring as Associate Superintendent of Iowa State Parks in 1998. Her professional career was dedicated to helping Iowans enjoy outdoor recreation. After retirement she moved to the family farm at Lake Rathbun with her husband Roy. She is survived by her husband Roy Downing of Moravia; son, David Downing of Moravia, son, Joe Exline of San Diego, CA; grandson, David Downing of Des Moines, step-mother, Mary Ellen Adel, brothers, Russell Quinnett of Moarvia, Gary (Pam) Quinnett of Des Moines, half brother, Wilbur (Becky) Quinnett of Illinois, step sisters, Francis (Russ) Keller of Michigan, Debbie (Don) Schnoebelau of Newton; two half sisters, Donna (Tim) Troudson, Belinda (CW) Kopaska of Dexter.
