Nancy Carol Carney, age 69, passed away on Dec. 9, 2010, at her home in Tawas City. Nancy was born on July 14, 1941, in Tawas City to the late William Sr. and Irene (nee Jordan) DeLosh.Nancy graduated from Tawas Area High School in 1959. She worked at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital for a number of years. Then she owned and operated Nan's Uniform and Bridal Salon. She also worked for St. Vincent DePaul in Tawas City for 20 years.Nancy was very active in her church. She was an organist at the I.H.M. Catholic Church in Tawas City for 20 years and taught Religious Education at both I.H.M. and Holy Family Catholic Church. Nancy was a team member of R.C.I.A. and the Vocations Team, and she was chairperson for the annual church bazaar. She was also a member of the C.C.W., holding the offices of president, treasurer and corresponding secretary. Nancy was president of the Band Boosters for Tawas Area High School, seeing the marching band bring home the first place trophy four years in a row. She will also be remembered for her love of hunting and her enjoyment of the outdoors. Nancy was known to get a big buck every so often. She was a member of Operation Shoe Box, Iosco County, holding the office of vice president and treasurer.Nancy is survived by her children, Claudia (Joseph) Milburn of Zeeland, Russell (Debbie) Carney of Linden, Scott Carney of Auburn Hills and Erik (Marcy) Carney of Ortonville; nine grandchildren, Bradley, Sarah, Adam and Evan Milburn and Russell, Ryan, Jayma, Jacob and Nicholas Carney; two brothers, William Jr. (Chrystel) DeLosh of Rochester Hills and Ken (Sandy) DeLage of Tawas City; one sister-in-law, Nancy DeLosh of Auburn Hills; and by many cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Claude DeLosh; and a niece, Corrine DeLosh. Funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 13, at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas, with the Rev. Frs. Charles Donajkowski and Lawrence Boks officiating.
