Nancy A. KeeferOctober 18, 2017Nancy A. Keefer, 80, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on October 18, 2017. Nancy was born on May 29, 1937 in Syracuse, New York, the only child of Thelma Manning Keefer and Edmund Keefer who both predeceased Nancy. Nancy's cousin Judith Anderson, of Barefoot Bay, Florida also predeceased her.Nancy was survived by Duane Wadsworth, Jr. (Margaret) of Syracuse, New York and Timothy Wadsworth (Jessica) and their son, Brady, of Walworth, New York.Nancy was also survived by her godchild, Tamara Lytle Ilaria, of Vienna, Virginia and her longtime companion, Thomas Burchfield, of Fort Myers, Florida.Nancy had many fine qualities including that of goodness and fairness.To quote one her employees "Nancy was the best boss I ever had".Nancy was a graduate of of Eastwood High School in Syracuse in June, 1954, Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York with a B.A. degree in June, 1958, and Syracuse University with a M.A. degree in 1959.Upon graduation from Syracuse University she started her teaching career in the North Syracuse School System and then the Deerfield Public School System in Deerfield, Illinois.Following her teaching career she was employed by The Chicago Board of Trade where she became a Managing Director in the Publication Department and an editor of several books involving the Commodity Market.Upon Nancy's retirement she moved to Fort Myers, Florida and became a member of the Forest Country Club. Nancy was an avid reader, animal lover, tennis player, and fan of the sport.A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at the Forest Country Club, 6100 Club Blvd., Fort Myers, Florida 33908.In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to any animal rescue organization.
