KINSTON | Myrtilla Harvey Brody, 91, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 1, 1924, in Kinston, North Carolina where she lived her entire life. Her parents were the late C. Felix Harvey and Tilla Gill Jefferss. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sammy Brody; and her brother, Felix Harvey. Myrtilla adored her three daughters. She also loved her family and friends, her church, the choir, and all animals, especially her little dog "Baby Girl." She will be remembered for her generosity to others, her love of laughter and her beautiful blue eyes. She was proud of her heritage and her family-owned business, L. Harvey and Son Company, founded by her great-grandfather in 1871. She is survived by her three daughters, Harvey Sharp Wooten of Greenville, N.C., Katherine Harvey Covington and husband Ned, of High Point, N.C., Laura Harvey Ball and husband Ray, of Morehead City, N.C. Her grandchildren are Bob Wooten and wife Donna, of Chesapeake, Va., Bryan Wooten and wife LuAnn, of Wake Forrest, N.C., David Hood and wife Lissa, of New York, N.Y., Sammy Hood and wife Jane, of Charlotte, N.C., Jim Segrave and wife Lyndsay, of Kinston, N.C., Ryan Segrave and wife Anna of Morehead City, N.C., Joe Segrave and wife Ashley, of Asheville, N.C., Katie Ball of Raleigh, N.C., Tyler Covington and wife Amanda, of High Point, N.C., Braden Covington and wife Meredith, of High Point, N.C., Chris Covington and wife Sherman, of High Point, N.C., Brendon Ball and wife Kristin, of Raleigh, N.C., and Ryan Ball and wife Leslie, of Raleigh, N.C. She has 28 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two nieces, Leigh McNairy and husband John, of Kinston, N.C., Sunny Burrows and husband Lee, of Atlanta, Ga.; and three cousins, Lane Montgomery of New York, N.Y., Harvey Kirk of Greensboro, N.C., and Bob Kirk of Winston-Salem, N.C. Her daughters will never forget the love and devotion she received from her special friend and caregiver, Danny Eubanks. His many years of dedicated service have made him part of their family. They are grateful to her nephews, David Brody and Hyman Brody for their love and support over the years. They thank Dr. Rupert Jilcott who was always there for her both as her doctor and her dear friend. They lovingly remember the times she spent with her lifelong friend, Oscar Greene. They also thank Ned Grady for his many years of love and devotion. The loving hospice care of 3HC was greatly appreciated. Following a private burial, funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015, at Queen Street United Methodist Church in Kinston, N.C., with the Reverend Allen Bingham officiating.
