Morley Mielke was born on December 19, 1943 at home in Petawawa, Ontario. He was the second eldest of five and learned his work ethic working on the family farm. He headed west at the age of 19 with jobs in Saskatchewan and nickel mining in Manitoba. He settled in Calgary and became both a journeyman carpenter and a Dad to three boys, Wes, Brad and Aaron Brown. Circumstances changed and he ended up in Didsbury. In 1981 he married his wife Sheila of 34 years. Together they had Janelle, Devon and Breanna and created many happy memories together camping and travelling and taking the kids to hockey, dance and swimming. Though Morley would have loved to spend all his time fishing and hunting, he did work for Quinn Contracting for 23 years until his retirement. Morley spent his last golden years enjoying his precious grandchildren, Cooper, Molly and Peyton and working in his yard and helping build the ITT sets until his cancer left him unable to do so. Morley died on December 26, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife Sheila, and their children Janelle (Landon), their children Cooper and Molly Carey; Devon (Becky) and their daughter Peyton Mielke; and Breanna (Steve) Suk.
