Michael Lee Wheelock Michael Lee (Mike) Wheelock passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 29, 2017, in Tacoma, Washington at the age of 77. Mike is survived by his sister Mary Lou Westerholt (George), his brother John Wheelock, his sons Shawn Wheelock and Christian Wheelock (Erin), and his three grandchildren, Ian, Caidyn, and Iris. Mike was born on August 26, 1939 in Tacoma, Washington to Kenneth and Alice Wheelock. He graduated from Stadium High School, class of 1957. He enlisted in the US Air Force and traveled the world for nine years. Following his military service, he began a career as a Tacoma firefighter, where he remained until his retirement in 1995. Mike was an avid music fan, especially jazz. His best days were those spent with his grandchildren, fly fishing, relaxing at his cabin in Cle Elum with his beagle Maggie, and touring the countryside on his motorcycle. A celebration of Mike's life will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017, from 10:00 am 1:00 pm, at the Point Defiance Pagoda. All who knew and loved Mike are welcome and encouraged to attend.
