Michael Lynn SmithNaples, FLMike was 63 years old and passed away on March 24, 2017 at Avow Hospice in Naples, FL. He was born on October 13, 1953 in Tiffin, Ohio to Bernard Charles and Carolyn Jean Smith, who preceded him in death. He married Vickie Hirsch in 1981 and later divorced.Mike is survived by his son Matthew Smith and daughter-in-law, Stephanie, grandchildren Ethan and Cora of Fort Wayne, IN and his loving partner Bonnie Barber of Naples, FL. Brothers and sisters, Joe (Jean) Smith, Lori (Chris) Earnhart, Steve (Linda) Smith, Jill (Bob) Hanes, John (Lauren) Smith, and Shelly (Rick) Bell, and many nieces and nephews, all of Ohio.Mike has spent the last 20 years living in the Naples Florida area. He was an avid lover of music and at one time had a collection of hundreds of vinyl albums, he played the Djembe drum and the guitar. He was also a connoisseur of good food and loved to cook and try different recipes. He worked at The Strand Country Club in Naples as a waiter and bar tender. He also volunteered at the Unity Church of which he was a member. Mike and Bonnie were snow birds and traveled between Naples, Florida and Grand Rapids, Michigan. They have many friends in both locations. Mike had a vibrant personality, generous heart and great sense of humor. Bonnie and Mike were the love of each other's life and Bonnie was a great source of strength during Mike's battle with cancer. There will be no services at this time, a celebration of Mike's life will be planned at a later date. Donations may be made to St. Matthew's House, Naples FL.
