1 LT Michael James Volanti, United States Army, 33 passed away on November 26, 2016. Michael was born on April 3, 1983 in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Michael served in over five countries across Europe as a Financial Officer of the Charlie 106th unit. During Michael's tenure he oversaw over twenty enlisted personal to provide guidance and leadership. Michael aspired to be promoted and gain honors throughout his military career. At the age of 25 he felt the need to serve his country. Within three years, he gained the rank of E-5 and was awarded the Green to Gold scholarship to attend Florida Institute of Technology. Michael acquired a Masters degree in Finance and participated in the ROTC program to become an Officer in the U.S. Army. Michael was then commissioned as a 2LT. Michael found his true calling when he became a member of the Charlie 106th Unit. He ascended the ranks quickly and he was promoted to 1 LT within one year as opposed to the standard two. Michael frequently talked about being a part of the Army for 20+ years, yet tragically passed away during his 8th year of service. Michael is survived by his parents Jim and Phyllis Volanti, his sister Danielle, brother Brandon Volanti, as well as his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Michael was a creative, innovative, and intelligent man who brought joy to everyone he came across. There are 2 words Michael would say to all of us, family, friend, or rival; GO GATORS!!!!!!!! Visitation is 10:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m., with a Service and Full Military Honors at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at Fred Hunter's University Drive Home, 2401 S. University Dr., Davie.
