Michael D. SmithJanuary 23, 1948 - March 7, 2015Michael D. Smith of Moore, ID passed away peacefully at him home on March 7, 2015. Mike was born on January 23, 1948 in Lubbock, TX to Tex C. Smith and Roberta "Honey" Smith. After graduating from high school in Boise, ID, he went on to play football at Idaho State University and earned an Associate's Degree. He was married twice and had three sons. During his first marriage he had two sons, Gregory Michael Empey and Geoffrey Mitchell Empey. In his second marriage he had his third son, Steven Oliver Smith. Mike lived in the Lost River Valley since 1985 where many referred to him as "Antelope Mike". Mike enjoyed life and had many adventures. He found great pleasure playing with his grandchildren and loved to spoil them often. He was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Mike was also an extreme motorcycle enthusiast where he loved to race dirt bikes early in life and then found pure enjoyment in riding his Harley. Mike is survived by four older siblings and two younger siblings; three sons, Gregory (Audrey Chen) Empey of Atwater, CA, Geoffrey (Peter Dailey) Empey of Mountain House, CA, Steven (Amanda) Smith of Pocatello, ID; three grandchildren, Bailee Jo Wilde, Hayden Michael Smith, and Ashlee Lynn Smith; and many nephews and nieces. His parents preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015 @ 2:00pm at the Anderson Family Funeral Home 2555 N. Highway 93 Arco, Idaho with a viewing at 1:00pm. Mike will be greatly missed and always loved by his family and friends. Keep the shiny side up, and see you on the other side.
