We are saddened to announce the passing of Mertle Hicks on February 28, 2025, in Palestine, Texas. Mertle was born on August 14, 1943, to Norman and May Hicks.

Mertle leaves behind a loving family, including five children - Anthony Ashford, Jackie Hill, Brent Hicks, Tracey Hicks, and Keshia Smith. They also have seven cherished grandchildren.

Mertle attended Neches High School and proudly graduated in 1960. They went on to have a fulfilling career as a nurse, touching the lives of many.

Outside of work, Mertle enjoyed dancing and brought joy to those around them with their infectious energy on the dance floor.

Although we will miss Mertle dearly, we take comfort in knowing they lived a full life and left behind a legacy of love and laughter. Rest in peace, Mertle.
