Melvin "Mel" E. Willey, 75Melvin "Mel" E. Willey, 75 of Lafayette passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2016 at Franciscan St. Elizabeth East.Mel was born on December 12, 1940 in Walkerton, IN to the late Nellie Ford and Seigfried Willey.On October 30, 1965 he was married to Joyce White Willey in Richardson, TX.Melvin served his country with the U.S. Air Force as a firefighter and later on in ammunitions. He served for 20 years.Mel enjoyed bowling and fishing.Surviving with his wife, Joyce Willey of Lafayette is his daughter, Christine (wife, Sharon) Ballard of Avon. Also surviving are his brothers, George (Linda) Willey, Tom (Mary) Willey, Richard Willey, and Bill Willey, and sisters, Leota (David) Ryse, Ester (Earl) Idle, and Kay Lyman.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Fisher Funeral Chapel. Friends may call from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Fisher Funeral Chapel.Burial with full military honors will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.In memory of Mel the family ask that you donate blood.
