Mel Fonnesbeck, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away Sept. 7, 2014. He was born on Oct. 30, 1936, in Logan, Utah, and spent his childhood on the family farm in Howell, Utah. He later moved to Logan and graduated from Logan High School, where he excelled athletically. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in accounting from Utah State University. He married his bride, Linda, also from Logan, on Oct. 13, 1961. He served in the Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. He moved his family to South Pasadena, California, in 1965 and had a long and successful career as a certified public accountant. He moved his family to Cedar City, Utah, in 1986, where he resided for the rest of his life.Mel was an avid golfer, outdoorsman and world traveller. He made friends everywhere he went, was known for his quick wit and had a penchant for making bad puns. He will be missed by many.He is survived by his wife, Linda, sons Joel, Dustin and Chad, and five siblings. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at the Cedar City 16th Ward (320 S. 1925 West). Visitations will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, Southern Utah Mortuary (190 North 300 West) and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at the Cedar City 16th Ward. A graveside service will occur at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Logan City Cemetery in Logan, under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be sent to www.sumortuary.com.
