Max M. CoverGALION: When Max Cover was 21, he was stricken with Rheumatic Fever which damaged his heart significantly. His doctor told him to live life to the fullest because he would probably live to be 40. Max took his doctor's advice and lived life to the fullest and on his own terms. Max's journey ended Monday, February 13, 2017 in Harlingen, Texas due to congestive heart failure. He was 90.Max M. Cover was born on April 17, 1926 in Wyandot, Ohio to Charles and Iona (Martin) Cover. He spent his early years in Wyandot, and later he lived in Fulton. In the mid 1960's he moved to Galion where he has resided ever since. After retiring from Peabody Galion in 1986, he also spent his winters at his home in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas.In 1968, he met his current wife, Ruby, and they were married in 1971. Max truly lived his life to the fullest, doing everything he ever wanted to do from learning to fly to navigating his houseboat down the Mississippi River to spending retirement in the sunshine.Although he enjoyed dancing, boating, playing cards, riding motorcycles and tinkering with just about anything, his real passion was flying, even building his own airplanes. He was a private pilot for over 60 years. Max was an original member of the Flying Falcons at the Bucyrus Airport, a member of the 70 Knotters Flying Club, the Experimental Aircraft Association, B.P.O. Elks Galion Lodge 1191,
Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 303 of Galion and a social member of the American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 of Galion.Max is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Ruby (Crissinger) Cover, children Gary (Susan) Cover of Mt. Gilead, Teresa (Mike) Smiley of Mt. Gilead and Gayle (Leslie) Cover of Caledonia,; step-children Glen (Ardelle) Noggle of Dublin, David (Julie) Noggle of Utah and Tena (Chase) Eyster of Ontario; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Eloise Cover; nephew Minor D. "Mike" Cover II; niece Debbie Strickland all of Florida and a brother-in-law Gerald Crissinger of Bucyrus.He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Minor Cover and two infant children.The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 20th with Wayne Gare officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
