Maurice Blake, affectionately known as “Reese” or “Butch” was the youngest son of the late Gwendolyn M. Blake and William R. Blake. He was born March 5th, 1968 in Baltimore, MD. He gained his wings on Friday, October 26th, 2024 after battling lung cancer for almost ten years. Despite the pain, Maurice brought sunshine to people's lives, always encouraging people to be strong, and “keep their head to the sky” until the end of his journey. Maurice grew up in West Baltimore, MD where he attended Baltimore City Public Schools. After graduating from Forest Park High School in 1987, he furthered his education at Wilberforce University the "rst HBCU operated by African Americans on an academic scholarship. While at Wilberforce University, he was a residential assistant and photographer for the basketball team. Maurice graduated with honors receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management. After Maurice graduated from Wilbrofce University he started working for his beloved job at Federal Express where he served as a carrier for 28 years. Throughout his career at Federal Express, he created a second family and friends he truly loved. Maurice always had a smile, joke, a nickname for everyone, or beer for those he encountered and treated everyone he met with dignity and respect. He never made an enemy and regarded everyone as a friend. He gave his love, wisdom, and even money to those he saw in need. God created a true angel who always wanted to help and love his family. Maurice leaves his cherished memories, to his better half who he shares 14 years of love with, Denise Laeter , his loving Daughter, Marne Blake, his son Paris Blake, two grandsons, three granddaughter, his brother Donald Blake, mother-in-law Diana Harden-Laeter, godchildren Ciara Brown, and a host of other relatives and friends. He is now laid to rest with his beloved mother Gwendolyn M. Blake at Aburtes Memorial Park.
