Maureen was a remarkable soul, known for her kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Her radiant smile could light up any room and brought warmth to the coldest of days.
She dedicated her life to caring for others, starting her career as a nurse at the Calgary General Hospital. Maureen's compassion and empathy touched the lives of countless patients and their families, and she was regarded as a pillar of strength and comfort in times of need. Her unwavering commitment to healing and helping others allowed her to positively impact the lives of many in her community.
Maureen had a deep appreciation for nature and spent much of her free time exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Alberta. Whether it was hiking in the Rockies or camping by a tranquil lake, she found solace and joy in the beauty of the world around her. She enjoyed capturing these moments through her love for photography, transforming ordinary scenes into extraordinary works of art.
She was also an avid reader and a true talent in the kitchen. Maureen loved to lose herself in the pages of a good book, finding solace, inspiration, and knowledge in the written word. Her culinary skills were legendary, with family and friends often gathering at her house to indulge in her delicious creations. Through her cooking, she nourished more than just bodies—she nurtured hearts and created lasting memories around her dining table.
However, above all else, Maureen cherished her role as a loving wife and mother. Her marriage to her soulmate, David, was a love story that inspired others. Their bond was unbreakable, built on a foundation of trust, respect, and unwavering support. Together, they created a nurturing and joyful home for their two children, Emily and Michael. Maureen's love for her children knew no bounds, and she reveled in their accomplishments and cherished every moment they spent together as a family.
Maureen will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and resilience will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Maureen is survived by her loving husband, David Meyer; her cherished children, Emily and Michael Meyer; her adoring parents, John and Margaret Thompson; her siblings, Mark Thompson and Rachel Johnson; and a wide circle of friends and extended family.
A celebration of Maureen's life will be held on September 10, 2023, at St. Patrick's Church in Calgary, Alberta, to honor her memory and the profound impact she had on all those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.
