Wharton, Matthew Charles Matthew Charles Wharton, 50, of Grapevine TX was born on November 11, 1966 to Judi (Boyd) Wharton and Robert Wharton in Fresno CA. He passed away in Grapevine on December 1, 2016 surrounded by family and friends after a short illness. His early years were in Phoenix AZ with aunts, uncles, cousins and grandmother. After moving to NM, Matt's love of sports began to take shape. He was most passionate about tennis and played for Albuquerque Academy and Eldorado High School. He also followed the junior tennis circuit in Albuquerque and the Southwest and after high school graduation in 1985, his intellectual prowess led him to the University of Tulsa where he received a degree in finance and comparative literature. Most importantly, Matt found lifelong friends and meaningful relationships that would help to shape the man he was. His notable professional career was in the financial sector where he held key executive positions in the mortgage industry. Matt will be remembered for his ready wit, loving generosity, adept mentoring, and unflagging loyalty. This untimely loss is a crushing blow to his many loved ones. May peace and grace be with you, Matt. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Jessica of Grapevine, his children Kate and Jane of La Jolla CA, his mother Judi Boyd of Albuquerque NM, his father Robert Wharton of Bakersfield CA, and his sister Sally Wharton and her children Jack and Chloe Jain, all of Albuquerque NM.
