He is survived by his children, John and Annabelle, parents Matthew and Nancy, Omaha, NE and brothers and sisters-in-law, Justin and Mackenzie Oberst, Washington, DC and Conor Oberst and Corina Figueroa of Omaha, NE. Matt was a long-time teacher at Sterling Montessori School. Countless students passed through his classroom and were better for it. He loved reading and music, but most of all, learning itself. The family will receive family and friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 200 SE Maynard Rd, Cary from 5 pm-8pm on Thursday, December 1st. A Memorial Mass will take place at St Michael the Archangel Catholic Church 810 High House Rd Cary, NC on Saturday, December 3rd at 8:30 am followed by a reception at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home. Cary.
