Mary Ryan AckermanVentura, CA Mary Ackerman, of Ventura, passed away on June 1, 2017, at the age of 96. She joins Bill Ackerman, her loving husband of 49 years, and her brother, Jim Ryan. She was born on August 31, 1920, in New Jersey, a daughter of James and Kathryn Ryan. Mary moved to Los Angeles as a girl, attending Marymount High School and graduating from UCLA. Before moving to Ventura she resided and raised her family in Bel-Air, Westwood and Pacific Palisades. For many years she worked and lectured for the Getty Museum, specializing in 17th and 18th century French decorative arts and furniture, and took many memorable trips to Europe. Mary was a long-time member of the Bel-Air Bay Club and was active in republican politics. While living in Ventura, Mary was very involved in focus on the masters and enjoyed a local book club. Mary is survived by her children, Kathy Cairns, Suzie Ouellette, Jim Ackerman and Mary Muntz; grandchildren, Amber Lee Ackerman, Becky Ackerman, Camille Demetrion, Rose Ouellette, Cassie Muntz and K.C. Muntz; daughter-in-law, Kathy Ackerman; and sons-in-laws, Tom Cairns and Denis Ouellette; sister, Cathy Campbell; and sister-in-law, Patty Ryan. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 3175 Telegraph Road, in Ventura.
