Mary M. Koenig, 69, regrets to leave her soul mate, and husband of 50 years, Tony behind. "He is a prince among men and I will be waiting on the heavenly side for him to be with me when he is called. Our children have been blessings for both of us. I will miss all of you and our beloved grandchildren." Mary M. Strouth was born on August 25, 1944 in Clintwood, VA and moved to Onalaska, WA in 1960. She married Tony on March 9, 1963 and moved to Monroe in 1973, where their family home remains. Mary passed away peacefully at home Saturday, December 7, 2013, into the loving arms of Jesus Christ. She was a devout Catholic and Democrat, proud of both equally, and an active member of St. Michaels Parish in Snohomish. Mary worked for the Sno-Isle Regional Library in both Sultan and Monroe branches before retiring in 2005 after 25 years of service. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Marell and Mabel; and brother, Joe. Mary leaves sisters, Dora, Martha, Ruby, Nina, Joyce and Tina; along with brothers, Jonas, Clester, James; and dear cousin, Gerald. Mary's pride in life were her five children, Patrick (Trinh), Teresa (Moka and Latte), Gregory (Sarah), Angela (Matthew) and Sean (Rickey); and her three grandchildren, Angelique, Colleen and Nathaniel. She touched everyone's life she came into contact with, leaving a loving lasting memory on all. This included numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers, friends and acquaintances. Mary wanted to send a very special thank you to her dear friend Sharon Blais for coming and spending so many afternoons visiting and reading to her over the past few years. Mary was also so thankful to her church "ladies" Liz, Sister MaryAnn, Mary and Janice for coming weekly for bible study. These precious times meant so much to her. Mary had two beloved dogs Lew Lew and Lucky she leaves behind also and has requested that donations be made to the animal care or rescue of your choice in lieu of flowers. Mary received a blessing in the care and compassion provided to her by Providence Hospice of Snohomish County along with her retired RN sister, Joyce. A funeral mass will be held Friday, December 13, Noon at St. Michael Catholic Church in Snohomish followed by a reception. A private family burial will immediately follow the reception. Funeral arrangements are being made under the direction of Solie Funeral Home.
