Mary L. Hayunga 1928—2016Mary L. Hayunga, 88, of German Valley, died Monday, September 19, 2016 at Presence St. Joseph Center with her family by her side. Mary was born on March 26, 1928 in Forreston, the daughter of Thomas and Irene (Brockmeier) Koning. Mary married Earl M. Hayunga on June 23, 1954 in Forreston. Mr. Hayunga passed away September 28, 2014. She was a 1946 graduate of Forreston High School. Mary was a member of German Valley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working on adult coloring books, spending time with family, and collecting teddy bears. Mary participated in the Relay for Life for many years. Surviving are her 2 sons, Duane (Susan) Hayunga of Lincolnton, GA., and Stanley Hayunga of German Valley; niece, Cherie (Jeff) Ellis of New Market, VA.; nephew, Thomas Runkle of Philadelphia, PA.; sister, Ann Runkle of Freeport; 2 grandchildren, Jerry (Kaycie) Wells of McCormack, S.D., and Dustin Wells of Troy, S.C.; and 2 great-grandchildren, Cynthia Marie Wells and Georgia Grace Wells. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Norma Koning; brother-in-law, Junior Runkle. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday September 22, 2016 at German Valley United Methodist Church. Rev. Donald Plock will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Silver Creek Reformed Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her memory.
