Mary K. GeorgeCatawba Island, Ohio: Mary K. George, 74, of Catawba Island passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton, Ohio. She was born on August 5, 1943 in Port Clinton, the daughter of the late Warren and Kathryn "Betty" (Castner) Eurenius.Mary graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1961. She then attended college at Bowling Green State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1965. She began her career in Monroe Michigan; teaching 2nd grade. Mary then returned to Port Clinton to educate the youth at Immaculate Conception School and Jefferson Elementary.She met the love of her life, Harold George, whom she married on August 26, 1967. Together, they spent the next several years starting and raising a family. She enjoyed being in the outdoors and could often be seen either canoeing or camping with her family. She was a member of the "Portage River Rats Canoe Club". She especially enjoyed going to her children's and grandchildren's activities and loved her family dearly.She volunteered with "Welcome Wagon" and the local Bookmobile. Mary held a few odd jobs working for the telephone company and as a cook at the county jail. She enjoyed playing pinnacle with her friends in their "card club". She was a very devoted and faithful parishioner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, attended bible studies and volunteered at bereavement luncheons. She read the bible daily; turning to passages in times of struggles. She was also an avid Cleveland Indians fan.Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Harold; children, Christopher (Laura) George, Pickerington, Ohio; Christina George, Port Clinton; and Eric (Mary) George, Granville, Ohio; grandchildren, Patton and Rachel George, and Gavin and Maxwell George. She was preceded in death by her parents.Visitation will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, where members of the Altar-Rosary society will recite the rosary at 7:30pm.On Tuesday, November 14, 2017, prayers will begin at the funeral home at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton, Ohio with Father John C. Missler officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic School, 109 W. 4th Street, Port Clinton, Ohio, 43452.
