Mary Jane CareiAGE: 81 • VinelandMary Jane Toomy Carei, 81, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at her home in Vineland, New Jersey. She was born on March 9, 1935 in Weehawken, New Jersey to Joseph and Helen Toomy.Mary Jane grew up in Weehawken, New Jersey and Staten Island New York. She graduated from Holy Family, Union City, NJ. After high school she attended the Montclair University. Mary Jane was the owner of Rent-a-Wreck and A&L service station in Vineland with her husband Joseph. She enjoyed the camaraderie and bantering with their customers and employees. She loved family and friends. She enjoyed upscale restaurants and down and dirty bars, Mozart and Bruce Springsteen. She loved listening to Garrison Keillor and watching Frazier and Seinfeld and always found time to hear a good and humorous story. She especially loved reading and visiting the Philadelphia Museum, art and antique galleries. She also loved a good auction. Mary Jane married Joseph Carei in 1956. Joseph pre-deceased her in 1999. They were happily married for 44 years. She lists her greatest accomplishment, "was to love and be loved." They had six wonderful children and 14 grand-children.Mary Jane was predeceased by her daughter Sally Ann Martinez. Mary Jane is survived by 5 children; Tracy Bonanno, Darin Carei and wife Tammy; Children Jessica, Bryan and Summer. Sally's husband, Augustine Martinez; Children Samantha, Jared and Liam. Jane Carei; Children Anthony and Natasha, Joseph Carei and wife Stacy; Children Caileigh, Braden, Maeve, Eleanor and Lorenzo. Mary Kate Eakins and husband Bill; Child Victoria. She is also survived by her sister Helen Cuddihy and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary's of the Lakes, 40 Jackson Rd. Medford, NJ, on Sat. Feb. 11th at 11:00 am. Family and friends may gather from 10:30 - 11:00 am at the Church. Inurnment will be private.In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Vineland Public Library, 1058 E.
