Mary Frances Fischer of Tawas City passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 at Covenant Harrison in Saginaw with her family by her side at the age of 64. Mary was born on Feb. 9, 1952 in Mt. Clemens to Grant and Doris (Bonin) Smith. She graduated from Memphis High School with the class of 1970 and went on to cosmetology and beauty college. She worked at Carol's Curl Corner as a licensed beautician for over 30 years where she made so many friendships. In 2007, Mary decided to step down from her working career and enjoy retirement at its fullest. She loved taking road trips to casinos, playing bingo and card games, and vacationing. Above it all though, she cherished the time she had with her grandchildren and making many fun and treasured memories. Mary is survived by her two loving children, daughter, Rae Ann (David) Murringer of National City and son, Jeff Fischer (fiancé, Kristina Beyer); her father, Grant Smith of Memphis; five grandchildren, Danielle Ranger, Jacob Ranger, Joseph Fischer, Sarah Murringer and Michael Fischer; one great grandson, Westin Leslie; one sister, Lori Abke of Memphis; four brothers, Gary Smith of Memphis, Scott Smith of Memphis, Robin Smith of Dunedin, Fla. and Dale (Marion) Smith of Richmond; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Fischer in 2009; her mother, Doris Smith; and a brother, Richard Smith. Her family will welcome friends on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 10 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Her family will also welcome friends at the funeral home on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Per her wishes, cremation will take place after the funeral service and at a later date, she will be laid to rest in Pioneer Cemetery in Sand Lake.
