Mary Cathy Brewer Edgin, 74, of Summerville, S.C., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016. She was the loving wife of James A. W. Edgin to whom she was married 49 years. Mary was born on April 3, 1942 in Rowan County to the late Craven H. Brewer Sr. and Beulah (Misenheimer) Brewer. Mary and her husband were residents of Tacoma, Wash. for 40 years and moved to Summerville, S.C. in 2006. Mary was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Spanaway, Wash. until 1993. She then became a member of Lakewood Baptist Church in Lakewood, Wash. until 2006. After their move to Summerville, Mary became an active member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Goose Creek, S.C. Mary served her community and church as a Sunday School teacher and was an Awana Club and Ladies Club leader. In addition to her husband James, Mary is survived by her three children, Leigh Ann Fix and Clifford Edgin (Jeanne), both of Purdy, Wash. and Crystal Lucas of Tacoma, Wash.; five siblings, Barbara Brewer, Craven H. Brewer (Bonnie) and Linda B. Modlin all of Salisbury, Jerry W. Brewer of Pilot Mountain and Nancy Threehouse of Port Saint John, Fla.; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services: A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Goose Creek, S.C. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 with Pastor Bobby Garvin officiating. An urn burial and graveside committal will be held on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016 at 3 p.m. in Faith Lutheran Church Cemetery in Salisbury, with Pastor Sy Ponds officiating.
