Metz Mary Alice Fritz Metz died on Friday, December 2, 2016 at her home in Worthington, OH. She was 82 years old. She was born on April 11, 1934 at her parents' home on a farm in Valencia, PA, and was preceded in death by parents Albert C. and Alice E. Fritz and brothers William Fritz and Howard Pitteroff. She is survived by her husband, Earl N. Metz, M.D.; children, Douglas, Thomas, Susan, and John; their spouses; nine grandchildren; and one brother, Albert F. Fritz. Mary Alice graduated from Capital University, where she met her life-long friend, Jackie Johnson, and her future husband, Earl. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Bexley, where she and Earl met for church while attending Capital. She taught in the Whitehall City Schools in Columbus, OH and in the Durham City Schools in Durham, NC during the time Dr. Metz was in medical school and training at Duke University. Mary Alice was formerly a member of the TWIG of Children's Hospital and the Ohio State University Medical Service Board, and a volunteer at the University Hospital for many years. There will be no visitation or calling hours. A private service will be held for the family around her dining room table.
