Marla HamptonRedding, CAMarla Joan Hampton passed away peacefully in Redding, California, on Sunday, March 12th, 2017. She was born on May 21st, 1950, in Redding, California, to Charles L. and Ethel Pauline Herrick Hampton. She is survived by sisters Clairen Davenport and Gaylene Pebley, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Marla was raised in Redding and graduated from Shasta High School and Shasta Junior College. She worked for many years in various jobs at the Shasta County Opportunity Center.Marla endured physical and mental illnesses throughout her life. She was a simple soul who was dealt a harsh hand in life. Marla could not have had more loving, supportive parents attending to her special needs. She had a friendly personality and a sparkly smile during her happy times. Marla was known to make quirky comments at the most unexpected times. She had an uncanny ability to remember all family members' birthdays, including cousins, aunts and uncles. She enjoyed many happy times playing with cousins at "the ranch." Marla enjoyed sewing, attending the Methodist church and spending time with her nephews. Marla always looked forward to her annual birthday lunch with her sisters and Jane Nelson. Her favorite color was pink for everything. Many thanks to the caregivers she encountered throughout her life, especially staff at Grouse House, Wyndham House and Osterman #4.A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 28th, at the Redding Memorial Park, 1201 Continental Street, Redding.Please sign the guest book at
