MARK EDWARD SMITHSEPTEMBER 04, 2017Mark "Ed" Edward Smith, 94, of N. Ft. Myers passed away on Sept 4, 2017. Mr. Smith was born on Aug 28, 1923 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. He was the son of the late Mark Hough Smith and Helen (McKiernan) Smith. Besides his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, of 59 years, Marilyn (Lassar), son Mark Smith, daughter Karen (Dale) Carter and 3 sisters Dorothy Larcombe, Laura Dupre and Frances Hogan.Survivors include his loving companion of seven years Judith Graff, three daughters Deborah (Roy) Beck of N. Ft Myers, Sandra (John) Hadveck of Santa Cruz, California and Victoria Scofield of Olney, Maryland; six grandchildren Amanda and Allison Beck, Mark (Theresa) Carter, Matthew and Michael Carter, Robin Hadveck; five great-grandchildren Madison, Elise, and Mark Carter( Jr), Mason Carter and Kaylynn Grant along with numerous other relatives and loving friends.Mr. Smith was a WWII veteran and retired Long Island railroad engineer. His stories will be cherished for generations. He will be missed by many; especially his girls.A memorial service will be held at Fuller Metz Funeral Home, 3740 Del Prado Blvd, Cape Coral October 21st, 2017 at 1pmA celebration of life will follow at 3pm at the AmVets Post 81, 1910 N Tamiami Trail N Ft Myers Messages of condolences can be entered in the online guest book.In Lieu of Flowers contributions can be made to United Methodist Committee on Relief ( umcor.org)
