Marion Elizabeth Porter Gordon Martin was born in Athens, GA, on April 28, 1931, to the late Alfonso Sr. and Ida Mae Moon. She is preceded in death by her loving daughter, Veronica Hood, brothers Alfonso Jr., and Harold Moon, and sister Carolyn Moon. Also, she leaves behind her precious grandchildren, David Jones and Michelle Little, and a stepson, Frederick Dale Jones.
She attended school in Athens, GA. Later she moved to Washington, DC, with her family. Marion worked with the Census Department, the population section until her retirement.
Marion was a very independent person even during her incapacitated state. Most people admired her independence and her frugality. She was always ready to give wise advice to her daughter and grandchildren that would allow them to make wise choices to help them to navigate through life. She also liked to volunteer with her HOA, along with reading and listening to the news which enhanced her knowledge of finance and world information.
Marion was a very social and active person. She loved to dance and play Scrabble and Mahjong with her friends and associates. She loved how her senior apartment complex offered different ways to congregate with other seniors.
She leaves to mourn her stepson, Frederick(Priscilla), grandson, David(Jeanette), granddaughters, Michelle(DeMarko) and Camille, great-grandsons, Mavelli, Christian, Frederick Jr., Nehemiah and great-granddaughter, Bessie , and a host of other relatives and friends.
