Marie Burke Perrigo, 91, of Lincoln House died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness. Marie was born on May 14, 1925, in Barre, to Alden and Mae (Paul) Burke. She was a lifelong resident of Barre, spending most of her life living at 24 Patterson Street. Marie graduated from Spaulding High School in 1943 and was always actively involved in class reunions and other activities. In 1951, she married Harry Perrigo. He predeceased her in 1986. She was a member of St. Monica Church and the Catholic Daughters of America, as well as an active volunteer at St. Monica's School and Marian High School. Marie was employed by Paige & Campbell Insurance Co. until 1952. In the following years, she was a full-time homemaker until returning to work briefly in 1978 for the State of Vermont Unemployment Office. Marie leaves four children Ann (Ron) Morissette, of Centennial, Colorado, Michael (Jean) Perrigo, of Barre, Lynn (Dave) Crocker, of Kennebunkport, Maine, and Margaret (Brian) Pellon, of Conroe, Texas; a sister, Margaret (Earl) Morton, of Beaumont, California; nieces, a nephew and several cousins. She also leaves nine grandchildren Elizabeth Rowe, Laura Gallup and Ryan Morissette, of Colorado, Joel Perrigo, of Northfield, Kimberly Powers, of East Barre, Caitlin Grady, of Chesterfield, New Hampshire, Christina Porter, of Portland, Maine, Michael Pellon, of Conroe, Texas, and Jennifer Pellon, of Houma, Louisiana. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Marie was predeceased by her brother, James P. Burke, and a granddaughter, Katherine Pellon. Marie also enjoyed many years of special friendships with lifelong friends. For the past five years, Marie had resided at Lincoln House in Barre and received excellent care from many wonderful staff members. In lieu of flowers, we ask that contributions in her name be made to the Lincoln House Activity Fund, 120 Hill St., Barre, VT 05641. Her graveside service will be on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Hope Cemetery in Barre. There are no calling hours. Everyone is welcome.
