Margaret Mary McHughAge: 98Margaret Mary O'Brien Beauchemin McHugh"Maggie"At the age of 98 Maggie entered the pearly gates of heaven with a smile on her face, a deck of cards, and she will also be busy organizing the daily rosary.Margaret Mary O'Brien Beauchemin McHugh died unexpectedly Sunday, June 10, 2017 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. She was born on December 1, 1918 in Burlington, the daughter of Michael and Hattie O'Brien. Margaret had three brothers, Pat, Francis and Carlton, three sisters Harriet, Sister Mary Eugenia (Veronica) of Sisters of Mercy and Rita. Maggie was the last surviving member of her family. Playing cards with Maggie and her siblings was such a joy and they played to win! She was raised in the old north end of Burlington, attending Nazareth school and graduating from Mount St. Mary. She was married in 1939 to Joseph F. Beauchemin who pre-deceased her. They had three children, Wayne, Maureen and Louise. Margaret worked several jobs in the Burlington area including Kresge's, Woolworth, Val's Restaurant (working with her two sisters Harriet and Rita who owned the business) and then worked at IBM. She was very active with her children's activities and sports. She loved her family dearly especially her grandchildren and their spouses and great-grandchildren. Margaret married Francis McHugh in 1977 and moved to Apopka, Florida. Frank died in 1996. She returned to Vermont in 2013 and was living at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford (OLOM) until her death. Margaret, also known as Maggie was a faithful Catholic. She loved saying her rosary and novenas daily. Attending the chapel at OLOM was a daily ritual. She made many friends there and enjoyed participating in all the daily activities especially playing her favorite - Cool Whippers. Special thanks to OLOM and their loving and caring staff. Maggie loved getting her daily hugs from all of you. Also, special thanks to all the staff of Northwestern Medical Center, especially the ICU for their constant care and compassion to Maggie. Maggie also enjoyed her visits to Enosburg Notch Health Center to see Dr. Karen. She is survived by three children. Wayne Beauchemin (Francoise) of Greensboro Bend, VT., Maureen Besaw (Allan) of Ormond Beach, Fl. and Louise Beauchemin of Franklin, VT., eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral Friday, June 23, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Margaret will be laid to rest in Ormond Beach, FL. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Ready Funeral & Cremation Service South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd. Burlington.
