Margaret Dean Hafendorfer, 95, formerly of Owensboro, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, in Bardstown where she was living. The Owensboro native was born on Jan. 24, 1919, daughter of the late Roy Dean and Louella Napier Ellis. Her career as a bookkeeper involved working both at Johnson Packing Company and Southern States Petroleum of Owensboro, from which she retired. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Owensboro where she enjoyed fellowship with the ladies in the Friendship Sunday School class. She and several friend's enjoyed many years of touring the country, staying for a couple months at a time in south Florida and a trip through Europe.Survivors include a son John (Mary Jo) Hafendorfer, of Bardstown; two grandsons, Jason Todd (Suzy) Hafendorfer, of Nashville, Tenn., and Brian John (Tiffany) Hafendorfer, of Lexington; two step-granddaughters, Sandy (Gary) Coulter and Sherry Leake, of Bardstown; a great grandson, Grayson Hafendorfer, of Lexington; two stepgreat grandchildren, Lance Coulter and April Leake, both of Cincinnati. She leaves behind many friends and fond memories at Park Regency in Owensboro and Windsor Garden Assisted Living in Bardstown.The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan.18, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown, and additional visitation will be Monday 11 a.m.-1 p.m. CST at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be made to Bardstown Baptist Church Building Fund. Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
