Marcella (Marcy) Louise (de Both) Byrne passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016 at the age of 92. She was born on September 28, 1924. Beloved wife of the late James Shields Byrne and daughter of the late John and Christine de Both of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Beloved sister of her brothers: the late James, Melvin, and Edward de Both and her sisters: the late Lillian Sprutles and Gladys Langhurst. Loving mother of her two daughters: the late Mary Ann and Sharon L. (the late Robert) de Castro and four sons: the late John A., Christian J. (Louise), Stephen J. (Alicia), and Kevin S. (Mary Ann). Loving grandmother of her seven grandchildren: Ziggy (Samantha), Gifford, Ashley, Meghan, Kathryn, Cameron, and Mason. Loving great grandmother of Taylor. She was raised in DePere and Green Bay, Wisconsin. She graduated from DePere High School. She worked in Washington, D.C. during WWII. She married James Byrne on June 8, 1946 in Washington, D.C. and moved to New Orleans and later Slidell where she lived for over seventy years. She loved gardening and won several local gardening club awards. She was an avid fisherman and crabber and loved the beach. She was a great cook and housekeeper. She also constructed an awesome tree house for her children. She leaves fond and lasting memories for all who knew her. The immediate family will gather for a memorial Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home and Cemeteries, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, New Orleans, Louisiana 70124 on November 12, 2016 at noon. Her ashes will be interned at a later date. The family would also like to thank the caregivers at Chateau de Notre Dame for all of the loving assistance that they gave to their mother.
