Gonzalez, Marcelino "Chico" Passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023 at the age of 71. He is survived by his soulmate and loving wife of 50 years, Linda Gonzalez; a son that made him very proud, Marcelino Gonzales III and lovely daughter-in-law, Ginger Gonzalez and four beautiful grandchildren, Marcelino IV, Abriel, Abner, and Jeruel from his son, Jose. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jose Gonzalez. He was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on August 7, 1951 to Marcelino and Carmen (Trujillo) Gonzalez. Shortly after graduating from Lumen Christi High School, Marcelino joined the United States Army and proudly served. He was a Vietnam Veteran and worked in MacV, working with Team 22 and Team 24. While there he earned the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, an Army Commendation Medal as well as the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Unit Citation Badge. After his Honorable Discharge from the United States Army, Marcelino joined the United States Marine Corps. He was assigned to 1st Marine Headquarters Division, Administration. Following his Honorable Discharge, he was employed for the Department of Corrections, where he retired from. A Prayer Service for Mr. Gonzalez will be held at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 E. Michigan Ave., Jackson, 49202) on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. with Father, Timothy MacDonald officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation at the Funeral Home on Friday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. as well as on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the service. Mr. Gonzalez will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Ft. Custer National Cemetery on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 11:30 A.M.
