Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Manuel E. Montaño went to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016.Manuel was born on Aug. 6, 1947, to the late John Montaño and Mary Cruz Montaño in Las Vegas. Manuel Montaño was preceded in death by his father, John Montaño, and mother, Mary Cruz Montaño; his brother, Tomas Cruz; brother-in-law, Fred Rodarte; and his grandson, Marcus Sandoval.Manuel loved the outdoors and a good conversation with countless friends. He volunteered for the Salvation Army, conducted and participated in countless Church of Christ ministries. He was an individual who was self-sacrificial and always took care of others needs before his own, even up to his last days.He is survived by his sister, Annadine Rodarte; his children, Emilia Martinez, Juan Montaño, Theresa Duran, Jesus Montaño, Lucinda Montaño, Timoteo Montaño and Emmanuel Montaño. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one nephew, two nieces, and six great-nephews and nieces.Serving as pallbearers are grandsons, Joey Martinez, Juan Montaño Jr., Julian Martinez, Javier Montaño, Joakim Montaño, and Nicolas Montaño and great-grandson, Jose Martinez. Serving as the honorary pallbearers are granddaughters, Perla Ulibarri, Jane Montaño, Krishanti Montaño, Kaylana Montaño, Rosaiah Montaño, Kimara Montaño, and Beatriz Gallegos, and great-granddaughter, Zoey Martinez. The memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday and the funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, both at the Mountain View Church of Christ. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home.
