Malik Miles Martin Grant was born on June 6, 1994 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to his mother, Stacie Gaskin, and he is survived by his siblings; older sister Malika, and 4 surviving brothers Michael, Tyron, Tyron, and Monte. Malik also met both grandmothers Christy & Yvonne, along with a host of nieces/nephews, aunts and uncles a host of other family members. Malik would be raised in Sheridan, WY, by Father and Forever Mother, Ken and Mary Grant of Sheridan, WY, and graduated in Sheridan Class of 2013. Malik grew up along side his 2 brothers Wynton and Kenneth, and little sister Mariah, whom with her husband Issac Allred gave Malik a nephew, Kyree, whom Malik described as a “Lil bad ass” lol, although; Malik loved his nephew more than anything in the world. From the very beginning, those who knew Malik as a child were awestruck by his witty sense of humor, intellect, and the irrepressible way he lived his life.
From the age of 7, Malik displayed precocious musical talent, and would grow into a multidisciplinary musician whose trademarks were his mastery of violin and piano, his singing voice, and bold lyricism. Malik’s Genuineness and Compassion for others was unmatched, and have blessed him many old and new life long and beyond friendships. Malik always enjoyed spinning time with friends and family, skateboarding, making music, and playing with several bands. One of Malik’s favorite pastimes was playing ball which made him a local Basketball champion, modeling his game after his favorite player, the late and great Kobe Bryant. Malik approached life with unbridled tenacity, and his future was one brimming with potential and opportunity. Alongside his now wife Whitney, their plans were to find a place to make as their home, in the East Coast’s NC, where each would pursue their passions and dreams, but also to be close to both his families in WY and Philadelpia and her family in Idaho.
Malik and Whitney’s plans were thrown into disarray when, in early June 2022, Malik was diagnosed with incurable Stage 4 cancer. Malik displayed astonishing courage in the face of his diagnosis, unfazed by the overwhelming odds. Thankfully, Malik was not alone in his battle with Whitney by his side from the very 1st sign of adversity and throughout the physical and emotional ups and downs Malik experienced throughout his 15 month battle with Stage 4 Cancer. Their love was unshakable by the cruel circumstance, and fearing Malik’s health wouldn’t allow him to make it to his September 2, 2023 Wedding. On August 19, 2023, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital amongst their family and closest friends Malik and Whitney got married.
In addition to the support of Malik’s wife family, and friends Every charitable person who donated to Malik’s GOFUNDME, are greatly appreciated, and your donation played and important role and how Malik was able to fight as long and hard as he did while also making the best out of life traveling with his wife, family, and friends. Despite Malik’s will to live, and all the prayers and unyielding support from family and friends, donors; Malik Heavily departed from this world on September 2, 2023, at home surrounded by his wife and family.
