Macedonio V. Aguilera, 91, passed away peacefully at his home in the Yuma Valley in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 1st , 2014. He was born in Tanco, Guanajuato, Mexico on September 12, 1922 to Luis and lsidra Aguilera. He attended school until the 3rd grade and then quit to help his parents on the family farm. As he grew up, he taught himself to read and write. He crossed into the U.S. through El Paso, Texas in 1942 at the young age of 20 as part of the Bracero Program.He was first employed in Independence, Oregon and then moved to the San Joaquin Valley working for 12 years then eventually arriving in Yuma in May of 1954. He continued as part of the Bracero Program in Yuma and was employed by McDaniel and Sons, L.M. McClaren and F.H. Hogue from 1954 to 1966. He then was employed by Herb White from 1966 -1967 and then by W.J. Kammann and Son from 1967 until his retirement 29 years later in 1996. He acquired his legal residency status in 1960 and then became a Naturalized U.S. Citizen in 1972. He met his wife of 57 years, Baldomera, in February 1956 and married in October of the same year. Macedonio was no- nonsense, honest, straightforward, hard working individual. He helped many people who struggled in many ways because he knew the hardships that he experienced growing up. He was preceded in death by his parents Luis and lsidra, brother Benito and sisters Maria, Josefina and Leonor. He is survived by his wife Baldomera of the home; son, Louie (Gloria) Aguilera of Yuma, 4 grandchildren, Louie Jr., (Erin) Aguilera, Ashley (Daniel) Marquez, Andrew and Abram Aguilera; great-granddaughters, Ariana Aguilera and Maddie Aguilera.(whom he never got to meet, she was born on Sunday, March 2nd, 2014 to Louie Jr. and Erin). Brothers Roberto of Somerton, Juan of Palm Springs and sister Patrocinio of Palm Springs and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Viewing will be Thursday, March 6th from 5:00 to 10:00 P.M with Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Funeraria Del Angel. Funeral Mass will be at 9:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Church, final resting place at Desert Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Louie Aguilera Jr., Andrew Aguilera, Abram Aguilera, Gervasio Aguilera, Edgar Aguilera, Daniel Marquez, Dionisio Aguilera, Marci Rios and Tony Rodriguez.
