LULU E. SIBANDA, a strong hearted Makokoba female legendary knitter
On November 12, 1997, the world lost a remarkable soul, Lulu Sibanda, who passed away due to food poisoning. She was born on April 4, 1958, in Makokoba, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, to her parents Mthamuso and Mandiweni Sibanda.
Lulu married Stephenson Madyara in 1973 and they were blessed with three children, Hendrix D, Phildah K, and Handsome P. She also leaves behind eight beloved grandchildren.
Lulu attended Silobela High School, where she graduated in 1970. She furthered her studies at Matopo Mission and graduated in 1972. She then embarked on a successful career as a housewife before retiring in 1998.
Aside from her professional accomplishments, Lulu was deeply involved in humanitarian efforts. She lent her support to the Matabeleland Humanitarian Massacre organization and was recognized for her contributions with the Rhodesian Women Knitting award.
One of Lulu's most cherished roles was serving as a Women's Scouts in the Infantry unit in Matabeland from 1966 to 1973. She was dedicated to her community and strived to make a positive impact on the lives of those around her.
Besides her humanitarian work, Lulu enjoyed knitting winter jerseys in her spare time. Her talent and creativity brought warmth and comfort to many.
Lulu Sibanda will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, and caring grandmother. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and strength will continue to inspire all who knew her.
