Loyal FunkSeptember 21, 1927 - July 1, 2017Dallas - Loyal was born on September 21, 1927, to Adolph & Anna Enns Funk in Wolf Point, MT, the fifth of seven children. The family moved to Hillsboro, KS in 1939 and were involved in the Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro. Loyal had a calling to the ministry at age 7 and by age 17 Loyal became known as a street preacher. Loyal earned his Bachelor's Degree at Tabor College with a focus on debate and public speaking and attended Seminary at California Baptist in Covina, CA and was ordained at the age of 20 at Marion, KS Baptist Tabernacle. Loyal completed over 60 years in pastoral ministry in Kansas, California, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon and British Columbia. In the 17 years prior to retirement he led the Church Planting program which took him to all the US MB Districts where he was instrumental in organizing and overseeing the building of new churches in many immigrant communities. Loyal married Nancy Toews on August 18, 1949, his beloved wife and best friend for over 67 years. Loyal leaves behind his wife Nancy, children Rodney and Teresa and her husband, Jeffrey, and grandsons Tyler and Jordan Kirsch. Son Jason passed away in 2012. Also left behind are siblings Lavern, Arlie, Alice and Viola. Marvin and Grace preceded Loyal to heaven. Loyal's motto copied from John the Baptist is, "Jesus must increase and I must decrease." All of Loyal's hope is in the Biblical message and the coming Kingdom.
