Dec 13, 2013 - Jan 21, 2016
This obituary is administered by:
On Friday, October 21st, the Lord called his precious daughter, Louise R. Hollimon home to rest in His amazing arms. Louise was born on Friday, December 13th in 1935 in Miami, Florida. Mr. Patterson Rogers and Mrs. Ethel Powe Rogers were her parents. Louise was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Patterson Rogers; her mother, Mrs. Ethel Powe Rogers Griffin; her stepdad, Mr. Paul E. Griffin Sr.; her sisters, Mrs. Ivory Mae Robinson and Mrs. Rosa Lee Henderson.Louise leaves to cherish her memory ... four sensational sons, Keith (Tanya), Aubrey (Anita), Bill Jr., David (Rita); and a devoted daughter, Phyllis "Momsie's Pumpkin Puss". Louise also leaves to celebrate her life: her brother, Paul E. Griffin Jr. (Dorothy); her grandchildren, Tony, Angela, Jessica, Melissa, Darius, Desiree, Stacey, Bill, Victoria, Cameron, Tamia, Nina, Shaun, Faith, and Hope; her nieces, Karen, Paulette (Rudy Sr.), and Johna; and her nephews, John Wesley Robinson (Abu) and Juan Robinson. If Louise could have another sister, it would be her beautiful and loving best friend, Mrs. Bertha Brown Wright; and four awesome women she loved like daughters ... Mrs. Roz Zahradka, Mrs. Gladys Lee, Mrs. Tracie Elliott, and Ms. Melitta Spencer. Louise was truly lifted whenever she would see her sister-in-law, Mrs. Christine Hollimon Stanley Easter. So, how did this beautiful soul with the biggest heart, "Louise", get the nickname "Pee Wee". Louise was born with a rheumatic heart condition and she spent the first six years of her life in the hospital. She was so tiny that the doctors gave her the nickname "Pee Wee." At six years of age, the doctors told her mom that Louise would only live to see fourteen and if she made it out of her teens, it would be a miracle. Hearing that she did not have long, Louise became incredibly active in church and accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at the age of fourteen. When her mom remarried, the family moved to Virginia. Louise graduated from Peabody High School and was a graduate of the first integrated Nursing School at Petersburg General Hospital. Louise truly believed in the Golden Rule and loved to lift others through gifts, time, listening, holding a hand, and sending sunshine surprises. She thanked God daily for allowing her to serve as a nurse for thirty-eight years at Southside Regional Medical Center.Louise was incredibly active in church and before her health began to wane, she would attend Bible study and Sunday school. She served in the Senior Citizen's Ministry and Pastor's Partner Ministry at Good Shepherd Baptist Church. She would light up when anyone would mention Good Shepherd and her goal throughout her illness was to attend church. Mrs. Rosa Garris, Mrs. Martha Lewis, Ms. Ercelle, and Mrs. Juanita Clark are a few of the many Good Shepherd Baptist friends who she loved like family and her sisters in Christ: Mrs. Frances Browder and Mrs. Sallie Harris.Louise read the Bible ten times from Genesis to Revelation and what everyone who met her would easily glean from being in her presence was that she honestly tried in so many ways to live the Word. Louise was incredibly creative, caring, loving, nurturing, and poured her heart and soul into being a mom, a momsie, a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a nurse.Services for Ms. Louise R. Hollimon will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 2223 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Va., Bishop Jeffrey L. Reaves Sr., pastor, eulogist.
