Louis Foster, age 94, of Grand Meadow, passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at his home. Funeral service for Louis Foster will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Grand Meadow Lutheran Church in Grand Meadow, with the Rev. Marie Anderson officiating. Burial will be at the Grand Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow and will continue one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Louis Lionel Foster was born on Jan. 24, 1923, in Moscow, Minn., to William and Ida (Braaten) Foster. On June 3, 1951, Louis was united in marriage to Shirley Rudlong at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church. After country school, he farmed with his parents and worked for several farmers, up until working for the city of Grand Meadow. Louis then worked at the Care Center and then in Rochester at IBM as a janitor for 29 years. He enjoyed fishing and vacationing, taking trips to Norway, Germany and Alaska. Louis loved dancing to waltzes and polkas with Shirley. Louis is survived by his wife, Shirley; siblings, Alice Fossey of Austin, Herman (Mabel) Foster of Austin, David Foster of New Jersey, Wilma (Harold) Smith of Faribault, and Bernice Mead of Adams; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death his parents; and two sisters, Viola Moran and Irene Vogelsang.
