Louis Eugene Ohmer, age 92, passed away on Thursday, Au-gust 25, 2016, with family by his side. Louis was the youngest of 10 children. He was born on December 28, 1923, to the late John and Hermina Meyer Ohmer at Owensville, Ohio. Owensville is located 40 miles to the East of Cincinnati in southern Ohio. Ohmer graduated from Ow-ensville High School in 1940, where he was a member of the basketball team. Subsequently, he enlisted in the United States Navy for six years serv-ing from 1942 to 1948. His initial assignment was to attend Purdue University where he obtained a degree as an aviation electrician. He was then assigned to anti-submarine efforts as a balloon serviceman and stationed in South America and Key West. He retired from Jacksonville Electric Authority in 1971 and then moved to Lake City, FL, and retired from The Aero Corp. in 1991. He was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church of Lake City. Louis was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mildred Mulhol-land Ohmer. Louis is survived by his son, Pat-rick Joseph Ohmer (wife Cherri); grandson Patrick (Joey) Ohmer, Jr. (Lake City); granddaughters Mistie Ohmer (Lake City) and Caraline Coombs (Jacksonville); four great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter (Lake City); and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday (Aug. 29) from 10 to 11 a.m. during visi-tation at Guerry Funeral Home Chapel located at 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, FL. Fol-lowing the visitation, Father Robert Trujillo will be officiating a graveside service at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 3596 S. US Highway 441, Lake City, FL. The family has request-ed in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida 4266 Sun-beam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
