Lora Louise EllisLora Louise Ellis, 94, died peacefully on Sunday, January 15, in Springfield, MO.Louise was born on January 14, 1923, in Crane, MO. She was the third child and oldest daughter of Horace H. Ellis and Clara (Gray) Ellis. Louise graduated from Crane High School, the University of Missouri-Columbia, and lived most of her adult life in Washington, D.C.While in college during WW II, Louise spent summers working in Defense plants in nearby states with her sister Aileene. She spent most of her post graduate career as an Executive Secretary to the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee of the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC. She loved the responsibility, and felt it was an honor to serve her country in this way. After retiring from Government service and a brief second career with McDonnell Douglas, Louise returned to Missouri. Louise lived twenty years in the Kansas City area before moving to Springfield to be near family.Louise was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Joe Ellis, and brother Bill Ellis and wife, Lena, and sister, Luella Cox.She is survived by her sister, Aileene Ellis; brother in law, Joe Cox; nephews John (Janet) Cox of Ft. Worth, TX, and Steve (Jill) Cox of Springfield, MO; and grand nieces and nephews, Stephen, Angela, Hunter, and Lauren Cox.
