Lola M. (Grace) Bowman, of Hale and Frostproof, Fla., formerly of Flint, passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012 at the Tendercare Nursing Facility in Tawas City, age 81 years. Lola was born on Sept. 30, 1930 in Flint to Henry and Myssell Grace. She graduated from Flint Northern High School and later went to work for Michigan Bell Company where she worked as a technician for several years. She married her husband, Glen Bowman, on Sept. 1, 1951 in Flint and together they began their family. Years later, Lola retired from Michigan Bell Company and stayed at home to raise her family. She was a member of the Eastern Star No. 507 in Grand Blanc and was active with the Boy Scouts of America. Those who knew Lola remember how she was active in crafting and making personal gifts for others. She truly enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing bingo, and collecting angels. In her younger years, Lola was a very avid and competitive bowler and she was a member of the Flint Women's Bowling Association. Lola is survived by her three children, Glen (Laurie) Bowman of Flint, Kay (Mike) Fizell of Arcadia, Fla. and Scott Bowman of Laurium; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; very special friend of Frostproof, Fla., Sharon Stephens; and many more dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Glen Bowman; her parents, Henry Grace and Myssell Stout; and her brother, Albert Grace. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial and celebration of her life on Saturday, Sept. 1 with a luncheon held at noon at the Plainfield Township Hall, 220 North Washington Rd., Hale. Those wishing to do so may make a memorial donation in her honor to either the Iosco County Animal Shelter, 3881 West M-55, Tawas City, MI 48763 or Hospice Angelic Care, 430 West M-55, Tawas City, MI 48763. Cremation arrangements are by Buresh Funeral Home of Tawas City.
