Lois Byrd Wold passed from this life to be with her Lord on November 23, 2016, after a brief battle with cancer. She died at the Conroe Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was 85 years old.

Lois Lucille Byrd was born on June 16, 1931 in Biloxi, Mississippi to Bert and Lucille Byrd. Lois attended Biloxi High School, where she met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Wold. Together, they attended the University of Mississippi and were married in 1953 at First United Methodist Church in Oxford, Mississippi. After graduation, they lived in several locations while Bob served in the United States Marine Corps, including Quantico, VA, Cherry Point, NC, New Orleans, LA and Oklahoma City, OK. In 1965, Lois and Bob chose to settle in Conroe, where they raised their family and lived for the remainder of their lives. Lois and Bob shared a storybook marriage of 62 years.

Faith and family were the driving forces throughout her life. From little league games to college graduations and other important occasions, Lois never missed an important event involving her children, grandchildren or great grandchildren. Lois was an elementary school teacher in the Conroe school district for years and maintained friendships with many of her students for decades after she retired. Lois and Bob were loyal supporters of their alma mater and Ole Miss Rebels football.

Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Louis Wold. She is survived by her son, Robert Jr. and wife Janet of Denver, CO, son Tim and wife Judy of Conroe, TX, and son Chris and wife Sharon of Conroe, TX. Her grandchildren are Amy Wold, Stephen Wold and wife Cheryl, Madeline Wold, Meredith Hanley and husband Brian, Anna Wold, and Caroline Wold. Her great grandchildren are Jackson Wold and Savannah Wold.

Lois was a devoted wife, extraordinary mother, loving grandmother and proud great grandmother. She enriched the lives of all who knew her and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Conroe, 600 North Main Street, Hooper Chapel, at 10:00 am on Monday, November 28, 2016, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am at the church and entombment in Garden Park Cemetery, 801 Teas Road in Conroe.
